Fabulous car fully upgraded by Schnitzer

Back in the 50s the BMW 507 only had a limited success with only 252 cars built, however in the 90s this was already considered by collectors as one of the nicest cars from the period and became an extremely expensive collectors car. BMW then needed a new car to show their knowledge in terms of technology and find new ways in terms of design. In 1997 the “Z” concept was shown and had an amazing success, shortly after BMW announced their intention to build a production car based on the “Z”. Everyone then thought the serial version would be a much different car, more conventional to comply with BMW’s usual customers requirements. Stunningly in 1999 the “Z8” presented was very close from the original “Z” concept car, only losing center locking on the wheels and was added a combination of soft top & hard top. The chassis was also all-aluminium built and powered by the M5 400 HP engine. Very optimistically BMW announced a target of 5000 cars to be built in 4 years, actually 5700 were sold and when production ceased there was still a lot of demand. The Z8 is a fabulously nice car, extremely original and very rewarding to drive though not being a real sport car. It’s the same reliability-usability as a 5-Series BMW and some were used as daily drivers. The success is still there as good used examples will sell for not far from the new price. No doubt this is one of the greatest cars from the early 2000s and probably the best BMW ever built. This example is a kind of pinnacle into the Z8 world, sold new in 2002 to a BMW dealer owner who kept it six years in is personal collection. Immediately after delivery the Roadster was sent to AC Schnitzer for a complete upgrade to the highest specifications. It received a 460 HP engine, complete sport exhaust, 6 and 4 pots calipers coupled with huge discs, specific shocks and springs, the famous 20 inches wheels and a lot more extras. More than a tuning this was done to render the Z8 as it should have been built by BMW : more power, better brakes and suspension. These were actually the flaws from the Z8. Our car is really the finest one to own, driving is really thrilling and doesn’t have to be compared with the serial car. However no compromise was done to the comfort and the natural easy driving from the Z8. This is now a second hand car presently owned by a collector with only 32 000 km on the clock, the condition is wonderful and the color combination of black and bordeaux is just superb. Really the best of the Z8s.
